Roulette Rules Explained

You are lucky! Why? Because roulette is a game that is very easy to learn. There really isn't much you need to know with regard to rules. All you really need to know is this: You have to bet on what number will come on the wheel, or what characteristic the number that comes has (i.e. red or black, odd or even, smaller or equal to 18 or 19 and larger, etc).

What do you really need to know? The most important thing to know is probably that the wheel has 37 or 38 numbers, depending if you are playing on an European roulette table or an American Roulette table. The European roulette table starts with 0 and ends with 36, while the American Roulette table also has a 00. Both the 0 and 00 are green numbers, and they are the reason the casino has an edge over players. To learn more about this though, read through the odds section.

So, you probably wonder what all this means. This can probably be best explained by introducing you to the different bets you can make:

    - specific number (i.e. 3, 6 or 29)

    - color of the number, i.e. red or black (all numbers expect 0 and 00 are either red or black)

    - odd or even

    - small or large number, i.e. between 1 and 18 or between 19 and 36.

    - what third of the table, i.e. between 1 and 12, 13 and 24 or 25 and 36.

    - what row of the table (table has 3 rows; you'll understand when you see the table)

You can also bet on specific rows, on squares of numbers, on 2 rows combined, etc. If you want to do anything special, just ask the dealer if it's allowed.

Now, you know the basic rules of roulette already and are ready to start playing!
