Play EUROPEAN ROULETTE instead of AMERICAN ROULETTE.
Follow that advice and you have already cut the advantage of the house in half. The reason therefore is that American Roulette features two numbers that help the bank, which are 0 and 00, while the European Roulette tables only have 0.
Don't let the names fool you though. European roulette tables can frequently be found, even in American casinos. And if you play online, there is absolutely no reason to play American roulette.
The only other advice for playing roulette I can give you is this: Take advantage of any freebies you can get, like free drinks etc. Because, even if you bet on the weirdest bet there is, the advantage of the house still remains the same. So, feel free to bet on your lucky numbers all night long and do some crazy bets. There is no way to minimize the odds of the casino.
You should however master the money management strategy, which says that you should only gamble with money you can afford to lose. I also recommend you don't try to outsmart the casino: even if you double down on every bet you lose, you'll likely end up a loser in the long-term. It might work great at the beginning, but this strategy will eventually catch up with you, especially because there is an upper limit to the amount you can bet. The reason therefore is that the history in roulette has no influence on what will happen in the future. If the last 20 numbers were all red, the probability of another red number coming is still the same!
